Work out what your Hilton Honors points are worth against a specific stay, and how far a balance that looks enormous on paper will really stretch.
Hilton Honors issues points in very large numbers and each one is worth correspondingly little. A six-figure Hilton balance and a six-figure Hyatt balance are not remotely comparable, and comparing raw point totals across hotel programs is the fastest way to misjudge what you actually hold. Amex Membership Rewards transfer to Hilton at an enhanced ratio, which produces a satisfyingly large number of Hilton points and usually a worse outcome than sending the same points to an airline partner.
