☀️ TRENDING MILES & POINTS NEWS ✈️ Flying Blue: Earning XPs through SAF contributions just got 50% more expensive. 💳 Southwest: Two new cards offer 80,000 or 90,000 points toward Companion Pass, but you must apply by December 2. 🚨 Amex to Virgin: A 30% transfer bonus to Flying Club is live through November 30. 🛒 Buy Points: JetBlue's 120% bonus ends this Thursday, and Alaska's 110% ends this Saturday. |

A 50% price hike with barely a whisper. That's what Flying Blue just did to one of its more clever elite status shortcuts, and the people who've been quietly leaning on it are about to feel it.
We've also got a Companion Pass window that closes before the rules change, a Virgin Atlantic bonus that has some real sweet spots behind it, and a handful of buy-points sales with deadlines that land this week.
🤓 Miles & Points Trivia
Saver award seats from New York or Boston to London start at how many Virgin Atlantic points one way?
The answer is chillin' near the bottom of today's newsletter... keep scrolling.👇

| ✈️ Flying Blue Quietly Makes SAF-Based XPs 50% Pricier | |
A stealth devaluation for status chasers
Air France-KLM has increased what it costs to contribute toward sustainable aviation fuel, and in turn cut how much elite status you can earn that way. One Mile at a Time flagged it as a quiet devaluation, and the increase is not minor.
SAF contributions had become a handy way for Flying Blue members to top up Experience Points (XPs) without flying more. At roughly 50% more expensive per XP, the math that made this worthwhile for some people just got a lot worse.
Who gets hurt most
If you were sitting a few hundred XPs short of the next tier and planned to close the gap with a SAF contribution, run the numbers again before you click. And if you're considering a status match to Flying Blue instead, we track every live one on the Award Travel Finder status match page.

The bottom line
The SAF shortcut still works, it's just no longer a bargain. Price out a real flight or a status match before you pay a premium for virtual XPs.

| 🚨 Deal Alert: Southwest's 90,000-Point Companion Pass Head Start | |
Apply by December 2 or lose the old rules
Southwest's Companion Pass lets a designated companion fly with you for just taxes and fees, even when you book your own ticket with points. Two new credit card offers give you an 80,000- or 90,000-point head start toward it.
The catch is timing. View from the Wing reports you need to apply by December 2 and be approved for the initial bonus to count under the transition rules. From 2027, signup bonus points stop counting toward the pass (Doctor of Credit). Neither bonus earns the pass on its own, so read the limits before applying.
The bottom line
If you fly Southwest with a partner or family member, this is the window to act before the rules change. Run your own Southwest numbers first with the Southwest Points Calculator.

| 💳 Amex to Virgin Atlantic: 30% Bonus Is Back | |
A niche program with outsized upside
Amex Membership Rewards just launched a 30% transfer bonus to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, running through November 30. One Mile at a Time notes that Flying Club is niche, but the deal can offer outsized value.
The Upgraded Points Podcast put a number on it. Saver seats from New York or Boston to London start at just 6,000 Virgin points one way, which works out to about 5,000 Amex points once the bonus is applied.

The bottom line
Don't transfer speculatively. Find the seat first, then move the points. You have until the end of the month, and our Virgin Atlantic Reward Seat Finder helps you search.

| 🛒 Buy Points Spotlight: Finnair Avios and Choice Privileges | |
One strong sale, one so-so sale
Finnair Plus has launched its best offer of the year on purchased Avios: up to 50% off, which works out to as little as 1.06 cents each. You can use these to acquire any flavor of Avios at an advantageous rate, which is useful if you plan to book premium cabins.
Choice Privileges is offering up to a 40% bonus on purchased points through November 26, as low as 0.74 cents each. One Mile at a Time calls it not among the best promotions the program has run, but still better than no bonus.
The bottom line
Only buy points for a specific redemption you've already priced out. See every live sale on our Buy Points Offers tracker.
