☀️ TRENDING MILES & POINTS NEWS
💳 Credit Cards: Chase brings back the 100,000-point Ink Business Preferred bonus - one of the strongest small-business offers available right now
🏨 Hotel Programs: Citi ThankYou is cutting transfer ratios to Choice Privileges and I Prefer by up to 50% effective April 19, 2026
🏨 Hyatt: World of Hyatt is surveying members about a new elite tier above Globalist - and some current benefits may become one-stay rewards instead
✈️ Airlines: Delta adds Austin-Phoenix, opening a second front in its battle against American Airlines
Two completely separate stories landed this weekend, but they tell the exact same story about where loyalty programs are quietly heading - and neither one is good news for points hoarders who thought they had more time.
Let's get into it.
🤓 Miles & Points Trivia
If Citi ThankYou cuts the I Prefer transfer ratio by 50%, and you previously needed 10,000 ThankYou points to get 10,000 I Prefer points, how many ThankYou points will you need after April 19 to get that same 10,000 I Prefer points?
🅰️ 12,500 ThankYou points
🅱️ 15,000 ThankYou points
🅲️ 20,000 ThankYou points
🅳️ 25,000 ThankYou points

💳 Citi Just Killed Two Hotel Transfer Partnerships - Quietly
If you have Citi ThankYou points sitting idle, this news requires immediate attention. Effective April 19, 2026, Citi is cutting the transfer ratio to Choice Privileges by 25% and slashing the I Prefer (Preferred Hotels) ratio by a full 50%.
From Useful to Barely Worth It
Right now, I Prefer has been one of ThankYou's legitimate sweet spots - transferring at a 1:1 ratio to access independent luxury hotels that Marriott and Hyatt don't touch. After April 19, you'll need twice as many ThankYou points for the same redemption. That's not a minor tweak. That's a program telling you it no longer values that partnership.
The Choice Privileges cut is less dramatic at 25%, but Choice has never been a high-value transfer target to begin with - this just makes it worse.
The move is a useful reminder that no transfer ratio is ever guaranteed. If you've been planning an I Prefer redemption, you have until April 18 to transfer at today's rate. After that, the math changes significantly.
Worth noting: the Capital One to I Prefer transfer bonus of +30% runs through March 31 - a separate promotion, but useful context if you're comparing your options right now.
You can track all current transfer bonuses in one place at the Transfer Bonuses tracker - it's updated in real time as these promotions come and go.

🏨 Hyatt May Be About to Change What Globalist Actually Means
World of Hyatt has been running member surveys that are raising eyebrows across the points community - and not in a good way. The questions being floated hint at the most significant restructuring of Hyatt's elite program in a decade.
A New Tier Arrives (And Globalist Gets Hollowed Out?)
The survey floats the idea of a new elite tier above Globalist - think an invitation-only or very high spend/night threshold category for the program's biggest spenders. On paper, that sounds exciting. In practice, it usually means that some of what makes Globalist great today gets shifted upward to incentivize reaching the new tier.
The more alarming survey question involves converting existing Globalist benefits - things you currently receive on every stay - into one-stay rewards. Complimentary breakfast is the benefit people are most nervous about. If it becomes a certificate you use once per year rather than a perk you enjoy every night, that's a fundamental change to the value proposition of chasing status.
This is all still survey territory, which means nothing is announced. But Hyatt doesn't survey randomly. These questions map the boundaries of what members will accept before they start sleeping somewhere else.
If you've been on the fence about World of Hyatt, our Hyatt coverage has everything you need to understand the program's trajectory right now.
Remember when we talked about Hyatt's five-tier award chart devaluation just a few weeks ago? Well, this survey suggests the changes may not stop there.
💳 Chase Ink Business Preferred: 100,000 Points Is Back
Good news on the card front. Chase has quietly brought back the 100,000-point welcome bonus on the Ink Business Preferred - and at a $95 annual fee, this is one of the most efficient bonuses you'll find on any bank card right now.
Why 100k Chase Points Hit Different
The reason this bonus matters isn't just the number - it's what those Chase Ultimate Rewards points can become. Transfer to Hyatt for hotel nights, to United for award flights, to Air France-KLM Flying Blue, to Singapore Airlines, or to British Airways Avios. The flexibility is genuinely unmatched among bank currencies.
Speaking of British Airways - the Chase to BA Avios transfer bonus of +20% runs through March 31. If you're sitting on a pile of Chase points and have a redemption in mind, that window closes in nine days. Transfer now, book later.
The Ink Business Preferred is also worth considering alongside the Aer Lingus and Iberia Avios transfer bonuses, also at +20% through March 31 - all three partners are in the same Avios ecosystem, so transferring to any of them with the bonus active gives you more flexibility than the ratio alone suggests. Use the Chase Points Calculator to run your own numbers before transferring.
🚨 Deal Alert: Flights to Europe from 18,750 Flying Blue Miles Each Way
Award Travel Finder flagged transatlantic redemptions pricing at just 18,750 Flying Blue miles each way to Europe - a legitimate deal if you have Air France or KLM miles sitting in your account and some flexibility on dates. Award Travel Finder tracks these redemptions daily if you want alerts on your specific route.
Not planning to use miles? Friday Flight Deals consistently finds cash fares to Europe under $400 round-trip - worth a quick check if you'd rather keep your points for a premium cabin redemption.
✈️ Delta Opens a Second Front Against American
Delta has added Austin-Phoenix service, quietly targeting one of American Airlines' most important hub connections. This comes after Delta already moved on Austin-Miami - another American hub route - and announced ambitions including Seoul from Austin.
The strategy is deliberate. American is currently managing a battle with United in Chicago, and Delta is using that distraction to grab gates and routes at Austin - one of the fastest-growing aviation markets in the country. For travelers, more competition almost always means better fares and more options. Check out all our Delta Airlines and American Airlines coverage to follow how this shakes out.
✈️ Lufthansa Is Testing Dirtier Economy Cabins
This one is exactly what it sounds like. Lufthansa is running a trial on roughly 20 short-haul routes between March 16 and March 29, 2026, in which economy cabins - including lavatories - may not be cleaned between flights. Business class continues to be cleaned as normal.
The optics here are genuinely bad. Making cabin cleanliness a class privilege is the kind of thing that goes viral for the wrong reasons, and Lufthansa's timing is particularly awkward given it has been pushing premium positioning. Passengers in back may board to find trash in seat pockets and less-than-fresh lavatories on routes already criticized for basic service. Worth knowing if you're flying Lufthansa short-haul in Europe this month.

💰 Buy Points Before These Windows Close
A quick look at the most time-sensitive buy-points opportunities worth knowing about right now:
Avianca LifeMiles is running a 160% bonus through tomorrow, March 22 - that's genuinely one of the best buy-miles rates you'll see all year at around 1.27 cents per mile. LifeMiles is a Star Alliance program that prices some incredible Lufthansa and Swiss business class redemptions. If you have a trip in mind, this pricing is hard to justify skipping.
Air Canada Aeroplan is offering a 90% bonus through March 24, pricing at 1.44 cents per mile. Aeroplan has become one of the most flexible programs available, with strong Star Alliance redemption options and no fuel surcharges on many partners. The full list of what's currently on sale is at the Buy Points Offers page.
🌎 Trivia Reveal
The answer is 🅲️ 20,000 ThankYou points.
After the 50% cut to the I Prefer transfer ratio, you'll receive just 5,000 I Prefer points for every 10,000 ThankYou points transferred - meaning you'd need 20,000 ThankYou points to match what 10,000 got you before April 19. That's the actual cost of a 50% transfer ratio cut, and it's a significant hit to anyone planning to use this partnership.
