There's a window open right now that I think closes faster than most people expect - and it involves one of the cleanest business class deals we've seen in a while.
Swiss business class to Europe this summer. 50,000 Chase points. One way. That number isn't a typo, and the booking path is more straightforward than you'd think. More on that in a moment.
But we've also got a new Capital One business card worth a serious look, Air Canada quietly becoming one of the more interesting premium products in North America, and a Chase Travel addition that partially fixes a problem they created themselves. Let's get into it.
🤓 Miles & Points Trivia
Aeroplan is one of the best Star Alliance programs for booking partner awards. But which bank's points transfer to Aeroplan with a 20% bonus right now (ending April 30)?
🔵 Capital One
🟡 Citi ThankYou
🟠 Chase Ultimate Rewards
🔴 Amex Membership Rewards
The answer is waiting near the bottom of today's newsletter - keep scrolling. 👇
🚨 Deal Alert: Swiss Business Class for 50K Chase Points One-Way
The Booking Path Through Aeroplan
Here's the deal: Swiss business class from the US to Zurich or Geneva is bookable this summer through Air Canada's Aeroplan program for 50,000 points one-way. Aeroplan is one of the most flexible Star Alliance programs for partner awards, and Swiss is a genuinely excellent product on transatlantic routes.
The timing couldn't be better because Chase Ultimate Rewards is currently running a 20% transfer bonus to Aeroplan through April 30. That means if you transfer 42,000 Chase points right now, they land as 50,400 Aeroplan points - enough to cover the redemption with points to spare. That's the kind of math that makes points people very happy.
Switzerland in summer - alpine hikes, long days, Geneva's lakefront - is already a compelling trip. Getting there in a flat-bed seat for effectively 42,000 Chase points makes it almost unreasonable not to consider.
The 20% Chase to Aeroplan transfer bonus ends April 30 - if you're planning a summer Europe trip, this is one of the cleanest paths to business class right now.
If you want to check what's actually available before transferring, our friends at Award Travel Finder track live award availability across all airlines and programs - worth searching before you pull the trigger on a transfer.
✈️ Air Canada Just Unveiled Its New Signature Class Cabins
A350s Get the First Major Redesign
Air Canada announced yesterday what it's calling the first major expression of its 'Glowing Hearted' design philosophy - and the new interiors are genuinely impressive. The new business class cabin, branded 'Air Canada Signature Class,' will debut on its Airbus A350 aircraft and represents a significant step up from what the airline has been flying.
The cabin design brings elevated aesthetics and updated seat configurations that position Air Canada more squarely against other top-tier transatlantic competitors. This matters for points people because Air Canada flights are bookable through Aeroplan - the same program that's offering that 20% Chase transfer bonus right now.
The timing of this reveal, alongside the Swiss deal above, makes Aeroplan feel like one of the more interesting programs in the market right now. For all our Air Canada coverage, check out our Air Canada stories - there's a lot happening with this airline.
💳 Capital One Launches the Venture Business - Goodbye Spark Miles
150,000-Mile Welcome Offer on a $95 Annual Fee Card
Capital One officially closed the Spark Miles for Business to new applicants this week and replaced it with the new Capital One Venture Business card. If you've been considering a business card that earns transferable Capital One miles, this is worth paying attention to.
The welcome bonus comes in at 150,000 Capital One miles - a strong offer for a $95 annual fee card. The card earns at a flat rate on all purchases, fitting neatly into Capital One's broader Venture ecosystem. Existing Spark Miles cardholders can continue using their cards as normal.
Capital One miles transfer to over 15 airline and hotel partners. One worth flagging right now: Capital One is running a 30% transfer bonus to JAL Mileage Bank through April 30. That's a meaningful boost if you have Japan travel on the horizon. Use the Capital One Miles Calculator to see how much those miles could be worth for your specific trip.
🏨 Chase Travel Adds Plum Guide - Here's Why It Matters
Filling the Gap Left by Airbnb and Expedia
Remember when we covered the Chase Sapphire Reserve overhaul that stripped bonus points for Airbnb and Expedia bookings? The idea was to push cardholders into Chase Travel for better earning. The problem: Chase Travel didn't have a great vacation rental option.
Chase just answered that by adding Plum Guide to Chase Travel. Plum Guide is a curated vacation rental platform - think high-end home stays that go through a rigorous vetting process. Sapphire cardholders can now earn full bonus points on these bookings when made through Chase Travel, rather than losing the elevated earning rate by going direct.
It's not a full replacement for Airbnb's breadth - Plum Guide skews premium and curated rather than widespread. But if you're a Sapphire Reserve or Preferred cardholder booking a nicer vacation rental, this is a meaningful addition. Worth checking next time you're planning a group trip or longer stay.
✈️ Air New Zealand's Economy Bunk Beds Are Actually Happening
$495 to Lie Flat in Economy - Landing Late 2026
Air New Zealand confirmed this week that its Skynest economy bunk beds are officially rolling out in late 2026, priced at $495 per person. If you've been skeptical this would ever actually launch - given it was first announced back in 2022 - it's now officially on the way.
The concept is six bunk beds nestled into a dedicated section of the economy cabin on long-haul Auckland routes. Passengers can book a Skynest pod for a set number of hours, giving them a lie-flat surface without the price tag of a proper business class ticket.
Is $495 worth it for a few hours horizontal on a 13-hour flight? For a lot of travelers, probably yes - especially compared to the alternative, which is sleeping at a 30-degree angle in a middle seat. This is arguably the most interesting economy innovation we've seen in years. Not everything needs to be redeemed with points - sometimes the cash option makes sense, and Friday Flight Deals covers exactly those situations when creative cash fares emerge.
⚠️ Airport Surcharges Are Getting Sneaky
The Menu Price Is a Lie
Here's something that deserves more attention than it gets: airports cap how much food vendors can charge listed on the menu. Sounds like consumer protection, right? In practice, vendors have found a workaround - they just add surcharges on top. Wage recovery fees. Benefit contribution fees. Airport convenience fees.
The result is that you see a $14 sandwich, add it to your order, and somehow end up paying $19.50. The price cap makes menus look reasonable while the total bill quietly isn't. And here's the particularly frustrating detail: workers may not even benefit from the wage-related surcharges because the extra charges can reduce what operators feel pressure to pay in base wages.
If you're regularly passing through busy airports, the FlightQueue tool is handy for planning your arrival time - minimize the time you spend airside and you minimize the exposure to the surcharge maze. Check your airport before you travel.

🌎 Trivia Reveal
The answer is 🟠 Chase Ultimate Rewards. Chase is currently running a 20% transfer bonus to Air Canada Aeroplan through April 30 - making this one of the best times to fund a Swiss or Air Canada business class redemption. Transfer 42,000 Chase points, receive 50,400 Aeroplan points. That's enough for a one-way Swiss business class ticket to Europe with miles to spare.
