Picture this: you land at Miami after a long international flight, walk off the jet bridge, and an officer calls your name before you even reach a kiosk. That's not science fiction - it happened to a traveler arriving at SFO a few weeks ago, and it's exactly where Global Entry is heading. More on that in a moment.
Today's newsletter is packed with news that affects how you travel, where you lounge, and which transfer bonuses deserve your attention before June 30 wipes out several of the best ones running right now.
🤓 Miles & Points Trivia
Which airport is getting the next Chase Sapphire Lounge?
🌴 Miami International (MIA)
🗽 JFK International (JFK)
🌉 San Francisco International (SFO)
🏙️ O'Hare International (ORD)
The answer is waiting near the bottom of today's newsletter - keep scrolling. 👇
💳 Chase Is Building a Sapphire Lounge at Miami International
What the Miami-Dade Documents Reveal
Documents filed with the Miami-Dade County Government confirm it: Chase is building a new Sapphire Lounge at Miami International Airport. This is official, not rumored - the county paperwork is public record.
The Chase Sapphire Lounge network has been expanding deliberately across major hubs, and MIA is a significant get. Miami is a gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean, handles enormous international traffic, and has historically been underserved on the premium lounge front for Chase cardholders.
Access to Chase Sapphire Lounges requires the Chase Sapphire Reserve - you get unlimited visits for yourself and up to two guests. The lounge product Chase has built so far (Boston, Las Vegas, New York JFK, Philadelphia, Hong Kong) has been genuinely excellent: locally inspired food and drinks, spa services, and a design level above most Priority Pass options. Miami should follow the same playbook.
No opening date has been confirmed yet, but the paperwork is in motion. If you've been on the fence about whether the Sapphire Reserve justifies its annual fee, this adds another city to the list of places where the lounge access alone starts to make the math work.
✈️ Global Entry Just Got Dramatically Faster - No Kiosk Required
Walk-Through Camera Tech Already Being Trialed at SFO
This one genuinely surprised me. A traveler arriving at San Francisco International a few weeks ago on a long-haul flight from Singapore was cleared through Global Entry before they even touched a kiosk. An officer called out their name as they approached the area and said: 'You're good to go.'
The technology being trialed is a walk-through camera capture system. Instead of stopping at a blue kiosk, scanning your passport, and having your photo taken, the cameras identify you as you walk and pre-clear your entry automatically. The officer simply confirms what the system has already processed.
This is still in trial phase - not rolled out everywhere, and not guaranteed to happen to you even at SFO right now. But it's a meaningful signal about where CBP is taking Global Entry. The program's biggest friction point has always been the kiosk queue during peak arrival waves, and removing that step entirely changes the calculus on how fast you clear customs after a long international flight.
If your Global Entry is lapsed or you've been meaning to enroll, now is a great time to get that sorted - the product is only getting better.
🏨 The Waldorf Astoria London Admiralty Arch Just Opened for Reservations
The Most Anticipated Hilton Property in Years
If you've been following the Hilton Honors world, you already know this one has been talked about for years. The Waldorf Astoria London Admiralty Arch - set inside the iconic arch at the end of The Mall, steps from Buckingham Palace - has just started accepting reservations.
This is a genuinely significant moment for the Hilton Honors portfolio. London has historically been a weak spot for luxury points hotels, and Admiralty Arch is one of the most recognizable landmarks in the city. The property sits at a Category that will make it a premium redemption, but for Hilton Honors members with points banked, this is exactly the kind of aspirational property worth saving for.
UK readers - Smart With Points has been watching this property closely and will have a full breakdown of Hilton redemption options and rates at the Admiralty Arch, so check that out at smartwithpoints.co.uk.
If you're thinking about stacking points ahead of a London stay, the Amex Membership Rewards to Marriott Bonvoy +20% transfer bonus runs through June 30 (in 11 days). That's not a Hilton transfer, but it's a reminder that June 30 is a hard deadline for several bonuses worth acting on now.
🚨 Deal Alert: Chase to Marriott at +55% - 11 Days Left
June 30 is shaping up to be one of the biggest transfer bonus deadlines of the summer. The standout right now is Chase Ultimate Rewards transferring to Marriott Bonvoy at a 55% bonus - meaning every 10,000 Chase points becomes 15,500 Marriott points instead of the standard 10,000.
That's a significant uplift if you're eyeing a Marriott property this summer or fall. Award Travel Finder has been tracking Marriott availability across high-demand dates - worth searching before you commit to a transfer.
Also running through June 30: Amex to Flying Blue at +25%, Amex to Marriott at +20%, Citi to Qatar Privilege Club Avios at +30%, and Rove Miles to Turkish Airlines Miles & Smiles at +50%. That's a lot of deadlines converging on the same date.
The full list of live transfer bonuses is always updated at our transfer bonuses tracker - bookmark it if you haven't already.
The Chase to Marriott +55% bonus and five other major transfer promotions all expire June 30. That's 11 days to decide.
🛒 Buy Miles Before Wednesday - United's 100% Bonus Ends June 24
On the buy points side, United MileagePlus is currently offering a 100% bonus on purchased miles at 1.88 cents per mile - effectively doubling whatever you buy. This one ends this Wednesday, June 24, which is just 5 days away.
Buying miles makes sense in specific situations: when you're close to a redemption threshold, when the target award is priced well, or when the cost per mile is competitive with what you'd pay at the cash price for the same ticket. At 1.88 cents for a doubled stack, the math can work if you have a clear use case in mind.
The full breakdown of both offers lives at our buy points promotions tracker.
🌎 Trivia Reveal
The answer is Miami International Airport (MIA). Chase confirmed the new Sapphire Lounge via documents filed with the Miami-Dade County Government. No opening date yet, but it's officially in the pipeline.
💬 Quick Question
